The Burning Question Answered

Posted by: | Comments (10)

I’m happy dancing with the opportunity to play with Danielle LaPorte!

She invited people to answer this question on their blogs -What’s one dumb thing that you used to believe in?

I’m so in on this!!!!

I used to buy into the idea that the way to be successful was to work really, really hard. Long hours spent paying your dues and saying “yes” to everything that was asked of you. You didn’t question your salary or your boss. You just hunkered down and did your best hoping that someone would notice the great work you were doing. It would all pay off in the end when you magically reached the point of success and got to do relax a bit and enjoy your life.

But that is never the way it turned out. The more I worked, the more that was expected of me. I had set my own personal bar so high, I couldn’t possible keep up with it. Sure I made some money and was good at my job, but I was miserable!!! Burnt out, pissed off and needing a really long vacation.

Funny enough, my own personal experience had taught me that the opposite of this was true. I was the most prosperous and happy when I was barely doing any work at all – selling E at parties back in the day. I’m not suggesting that you become a drug dealer, but I am pointing out that working hard was not necessarily paying off in my world.

Working hard for no payoff was what I grew up watching my parents do. My Dad went off to a job he hated everyday and came home and poured himself a drink first thing in the door. My Mom struggled to raise kids, get her Master’s degree and then build a career. They both worked really hard hoping to one day be able to relax and enjoy their lives….even if it would be when they retired. They barely made enough money to raise our family in the traditional lower middle class way.

Then my Mom got breast cancer and struggled with that disease for 8 years before it finally killed her. She was only 55.

Her last words to me were- Enjoy your life now!!! You are working so hard and so focused on your career. You need to stop and enjoy your life right now!!

You see, she had thought that if she worked hard when she was young, she would be able to enjoy her life when she was older…..but she found herself dying instead. Her words of wisdom- This was supposed to me my time to live- and I’m dying instead. Don’t let that happen to you!

I took her words to heart.

What I know to be true- Success comes from being happy and enjoying your life. Spend your time doing what you love. Have fun everyday!! Take the time to enjoy the people who matter to you. Breath!!!! Celebrate!!!! Live!!! The money will come.

I invite you to play along and answer this question too- What’s one dumb thing that you used to believe in?

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Some love……

Happy Yule!

Happy Chanukah!!

Merry Christmas!!!

May you enjoy all the Peace, Fun, and Juicy Goodness that the holidays bring!

Some Biz-ness……

I wanted to let you know that I’m off on a mission and you probably won’t be hearing much from me over the next few weeks.

It won’t be because I’m not thinking of you! I picture you off enjoying the holidays just like me! I see you laughing, dancing, enjoying your friends and family, and drinking too much eggnog…… just like last year.

But, In addition to whooping it up,  I’ll also be off on a very important mission that will require all my focus and attention and I doubt I’ll have the time to write any blog posts!

I’ll be behind the scenes working my magic and creating something  new and exciting just for you.

Have no doubt that you will reap the benefits of it once it’s complete!

All I’m going to tell you is this- It’s going to help you unfurl your freak flag, make more money, and live a kick-ass life!

Ok…that’s all I have for now. I’ll be back soon with something very cool to share.

Focusing on Freedom While Being a Slacker

Posted by: | Comments (2)

Ok, I admit it- I’ve been being a total slacker the past few weeks. I’ve had so many fun things going on that I’ve been having a hard time focusing on work. I’ve been too busy taking off to the country and chillaxin!

Hanging with the Ladies

Can you blame me?  It’s Summer time and I’ve been taking advantage of the freedom and flexibility that I’ve built into my life. This freedom is important to me. I like to be in charge of my own schedule and choose when I want to work and when I want to play. Being able to make choices like this is a big part of what makes my life Kick-Ass.

For me, a Kick-Ass Life is all about freedom; the freedom to choose what I want in my life and the freedom to be 100% ME in my full freaky glory.

What does freedom mean to you in your life?

Focusing on Freedom

When I am focusing on work, I’m focusing on freedom.

I’ve been engaging in a deep conversation about freedom and what prevents you from having it with all the awesome subscribers to my Kick-Ass List.

It’s pretty clear to me that the only thing standing between any of us and the Kick-Ass Life of our dreams is the stories we tell ourselves that say we can’t have it. The problem is that these stories are so imbedded into our subconscious we don’t question them. We  end up believing that they are true even thought they make us feel bad about ourselves and limit what is possible in our lives.

It’s my mission to help you uncover these stories and question them so you can set yourself free and start living your Kick-Ass Life. I love witnessing the shift that happens in my client’s lives once they identify the stories that have been holding them back, and how quickly things change once they stop believing them. It’s a beautiful thing to see!

If you feel like you can benefit from some of this work let me know. I”d love the opportunity to help you set yourself free so that you can begin choosing what you want in your Kick-Ass Life.

I feel like it’s time to dive in and put together a series of cool free classes and some new ways to work together.  Due to popular demand, I’ll be kicking things off by talking about how to connect to your version of a Kick-Ass Life sometime in August.

I’m also working on putting together a few resources for you to help you create a Kick-Ass Life of your own.

My Kick-Ass Dream Life

I can’t forget to mention the awesome new episode of the podcast-My Kick-Ass Dream Life -that we recently did. It’s called Weird, Spiritual and Totally Booked: 3 Simple and Time Effective Facebook Strategies to Attract More Clients to Your Out of the Box Business

My new friend Paul Zelizer is my guest and he shows you how to talk about your out of the box spiritual business in a way that easily attracts your right people to you. We had a wonderful conversation about owning your talents and flying your freak flag so that your right people can easily find you. Paul’s ideas are in perfect alignment with the stuff that I talk about with my coaching clients when it comes to creating a Kick-Ass Life. Paul applies these same ideas to filling your Kick-Ass business. I encourage you to click on over to the podcast page and give Weird, Spiritual and Totally Booked a listen. There’s lots of juicy bits to pick up on.

Her Unfolding Journey

While I’m talking about podcasts I want to mention that I was a guest on Mark Semple’s podcast/show called Her Unfolding Journey. I shared a bit about my unfolding journey and we had a great conversation about living a Kick-Ass Life and flying your freak flag. It was a blast to share space with Mark like this! You can listen to the recording here.

That’s it for now!

I hope you have a Kick-Ass day!

The Source of Your Creative Power

Posted by: | Comments (0)

The other night I was listening to MOTH Radio and one of the performers was Aimee Mullins. She is a paraplegic who refused to hide who she was in order to make other people comfortable. I found her talk so inspiring that I looked it up on the MOTH website so that I could listen again. The same talk aired on NPR the next day while I was in the car so I knew it had a special message for me.

I know, I just wrote a post about Aimee last week, but this chick is inspiring and her story keeps popping up for me so I’m going with it.

Aimee embraced the fact that her legs were amputated below the knee  and decided to have fun with it. She wouldn’t settle for the typical prosthetic legs that were available to her. The options were extremely limited.

She decided that she was having conversations about what was possible for her legs with the wrong people and set out to find people who would say “yes” to her ideas.

She sought out the people who would see the potential and the possibilities rather than the limitation of having no lower legs.

Looking for the right people opened up a world of possibilities and opportunities for her.

She became the fastest paraplegic women in the world with some new sprinting legs.

She walked the Paris runways in fashion shows with beautifully carved wooden legs and feathered legs. She could pick what height she wanted to be. She acted in film and TV and now is a key note speaker and an inspiration to people all over the world.

All this happened because she wouldn’t settle. She wanted to do more with her life.

Aimee embraced what made her different and allowed it to make her extraordinary and exceptional.

We all have something about us that makes us different. For the most part we have been taught to hide those parts of us away so that we fit in and be normal. We don’t want to make other people uncomfortable so we make ourselves uncomfortable by hiding who we are and not allowing ourselves to be fully self expressed.

I like what Aimee has to say about this-

“When we celebrate and truly own what it is that makes us different we are able to find the source of our greatest creative power. “

What would happen if you embraced what made you different?

What might be possible for you?

You can listen to the story told by Aimee by using the player below. Her story is the first 15 minutes of the show.

How my Legs Give Me Super Powers

Posted by: | Comments (3)

I am so inspired by Aimee Mullins!

Aimee is a double amputee who decided to embrace what makes her different and to stop worrying about making everyone else comfortable!

She wouldn’t settle for the prosthetic leg options that were being offered to her and she set out to find people who were willing to explore what was possible. Doing so resulted in her; setting world records, walking the runway, and becoming an actor.

I hope you are as inspired as I am by this TED talk she did!
