What do You do When You Are Not a Planner or Goal Setter?

By

Today I had an awesome Kick-Ass Consultation with a really cool woman who told me that she is not big on liner thinking…and not much of a goal setter, so she is at a loss around how to change her life.

Isn’t that how you do it?

You set some goals and lay out a step by step plan for achieving those goals?

Boy…did this get me fired up!!!

Yes…that is exactly how SOME people go about successfully changing their lives.

But what about the rest of us who that does not work for?

I know that I’m not the only one who never had much luck with setting goals and laying out a structured plan to reach them.
To me it always seemed so limiting…and difficult to figure out ahead of time what steps that I needed to take in order to make something happen. That is not to say that I have never had success setting goals and laying out a plan, but the reality is that everything I ended up getting in that way, always turned out to be something that I did not really want in the long run.  I was so focused on following the plan, I ignored all the signs that what I was pursuing really was not for me.

Can you relate to that too?

So what do you do????

I prefer a more organic method of manifestation that allows you to be in the flow and effortlessly creating your dream life.

It’s all about creating and connecting to a vision for your life, and then allowing it to naturally unfold before you.  The results that I’ve had with this have been amazing.  I’ve used this method to create my business, find my awesome home, my community, my truly delicious relationship and to have a totally kick-ass birthday celebration (You can read about that here).

The cool part about this approach is that it leaves plenty of space for fine tuning your vision. As things are unfolding, it is really easy to determine if it is what you want or not, and you can make any adjustments necessary.  You also remove the stress and frustration that is often felt around trying to achieve your goals in a specific way. It opens things up and invites in more flow to your process.

The more I do this, the better I get at it.  It becomes effortless. I learned some simple practices that help speed up the process. Now things show up for me as soon as I allow them to.  I see the same results with my clients.

I can teach you how to do this too if you want me to.

Sign up for your very own Kick-Ass Consultation and we can discuss how we can work together to create your Kick-Ass Dream life too.

Leah, you rock. I love your enthusiasm and how you make this all doable for people tired of feeling like none of this self help stuff applies to them (us)!

This summed it up for me:

“I prefer a more organic method of manifestation that allows you to be in the flow and effortlessly creating your dream life. ”

Big sigh of relief! Congrats on all the great stuff happening and for the kickass lives emerging cuz of your work.

love

I love Nancy, and her tweet led me here. And Wow!… when I got here, how great. I like what hit Nancy, in her comment above.

But what got me was “To me it always seemed so limiting…and difficult to figure out ahead of time what steps that I needed to take in order to make something happen.”

I so often move and make things happen in the moment. Maybe it’s my ADD, but it’s me. How wonderful to read this.

Hi Michael,
Welcome!I am glad that it resonated with you. Maybe it is ADD or maybe it is just the way you work…maybe I have ADD too….teeheeheha! I do not think that we are alone in this.

Rock On!

Way to break it down, Woman!

These are things I’ve been thinking myself, but haven’t seen anywhere yet… So you’re totally helping to validate them for me… THANK YOU!

I think this is an important conversation for entrepreneurs…

I appreciate your defying the box, as always!

Thanks so much Christina.
I think it is an important conversation as well.
People need to know that there are options.

Great post and I too can relate. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in my ‘non-linear’ ways.

p.s. I love the new look for your website.

Hi Leah,
I have tried the structured appraoch but it only lasts a few days, it is more natural for me to follow the flow and see where it leads and then apply any needed structure as necessary.
I’m creative and eclectic and don’t like having my wings clipped or someone putting a lead on me controlling when I can and can’t do things. (Perhaps that’s why I’m not a millionaire! LOL!)

Hi Valerie,
I am glad you like the new look of the site.
You are definitely not alone in this!
I wonder how many people do not even realize that they are non-liner and are just trying to force themselves into that box?

Hi Elly,

Maybe your approach works perfectly well and you are just not a millionaire YET ?

Thanks, Leah, that clarifies for me how I work.

I start out with a goal and some idea of the immediate next steps towards that goal, but the middle ground is always kind of hazy.

It seems to work out, though.

Thanks for sharing Mike! I am glad this helped.
