Owning Your Bad-Ass Self

Posted by: | Comments (1)

In my previous post I laid out the three key components to flying your freak flag so you can AMP UP your shine factor and make more money.

In this post I’m going to talk about key #1: Owning who you are and what differentiates you from all the rest.

If you want to own who you are: you got to know who you are!

You need to know what drives you, what is special about you, and give yourself permission to be 100% you in your full freaky glory.

Start off by answering these questions:

Why would someone want to hire you instead of someone else?

What is your unique perspective about the world and how it works?

What are your super powers?

If you can answer these questions – Yay!! You’re on your way to flying your freak flag high and proud.

If you can’t – you are not alone!!

I see a lot of people getting stuck and having a hard time answering these kinds of questions.

Are you taking these things for granted or having a hard time seeing them to begin with?

Have you taken the time to really get to know yourselves intimately, learn what works, or what your preferences are?

Are you too caught up in the bus-y-ness of life and trying to do everything the right way – that you’ve lost touch with your own way of doing things?

I suspect that you spend way more time thinking about how you can “fix” yourself and improve your perceived flaws. I’m going to tell you right now you wasting your time doing that. You’re way better off spending your time thinking about all your talents, preferences and what makes you rock!

Give yourself permission to be 100% you! Flaws, quirks, strengths, freaky bits, and everything in between!

LOVE. IT. ALL

I can’t express how important this piece of the process is!

I suggest spending some time reconnecting with YOU and what makes you tick. Set aside some quiet space in your day to journal, mediate, or just hang out with YOU. Notice how you feel and what your inner-guidance is telling you. Write it down. Notice with out judgement. It’s all good!

In most cases, the things that are freaky and weird about you are going to be your strongest selling points.  All you need to do is embrace them and bring them forward ( I know, easier said than done! This is something that I can help you with. *wink*.)

From an energetic perspective…

Coming to place of love and acceptance within yourself, and knowing what your super powers are is vital if you want to become super shiny to the people who are going to buy from you.

How you feel about yourself and the work you do is reflected in your energy and people unconsciously respond to it.

If you own your amazing ability to express emotion through your voice or cut through the bullshit to see where someone is blocked, then you will be sending a strong clear signal out saying, “I am great at this!”  You will attract opportunities to do those things. When you doubt yourself and aren’t clear on what you’re good at; you send out doubtful energy that attracts more of the same.

Here are some action steps to help you OWN your Bad-Ass Self!

Make a commitment to get to know YOU better.

Consider these things:

  1. Pay attention to what you do naturally and what interests you (this is where your super powers can be found).
  2. Acknowledge your strengths and your weaknesses and find a way to embrace both.
  3. Notice your natural rhythm and the way you like to work with people.
  4. Pay attention to what your point of view and unique perspective are.
  5. Identify what you stand for in your life and your business. What kind of revolution would you like to lead? (This is really important, and I’ll talk more about it in the next blog post.)

Whats Your Theme for 2025?

Posted by: | Comments (3)

Happy New Year!!!

What’s your theme for the new year?

My theme for 2025 is being fully self-expressed!

I prefer having a theme rather than resolutions. Mostly because I suck at resolutions!

In my mind, resolutions take willpower and that is not something that I have a lot of. I gave up on forcing myself to have willpower a long time ago. It’s just not how I operate. I get more done when I choose to focus on bringing more of something into my life! It’s more fun and expansive which is how I like to roll.

What works best for you when it comes to making changes?

The first thing I’m doing as part of my self-expression theme is to start flying my freak flag higher and prouder in my biz. It seems like the perfect place to start since flying your freak flag is all about self-expression and letting people see the real you.

Here are some of the things you’re going to be seeing more of from me-

I’ll be talking more about the law of attraction and how to work in harmony with it to create your freaky empire. This principle is the foundation of the work I do and it’s time I gave it the place of honor it deserves.

I’m changing my services around to better reflect how I love to work with people. Gone will be the group programs, and convoluted coaching packages. I’m going to be focused on offering Unfurl Your Freak Flag Sessions and Booster Packs. (Email me if you want to learn more about this!) There will be two other ways that people can work with me that I’ll be revealing in the future.

I’m ditching my podcast that has been sitting around gathering dust for the past 6 months. It was fun for a while but I’m ready to move on to something else now…..like being interviewed by other people!!!! Don’t worry; you can still listen to all the past episodes here.

I’m focusing on only doing things that I want to do rather than things I feel I need to do. Over the past few weeks I’ve really been noticing the difference between these two energies.

When I want to do something- like work on my new kick-ass email series-I feel excited and expansive. I can’t wait to get started.

But, when I feel like I need to work on that same email series, there is a sense of pressure and constrictive energy about it.

Typically the thoughts that come with the feeling that I need to work on it are based in the idea that if I don’t  work on the email series , then I’ll never get another client, or I won’t be able to grow my list or make money. Everything is contingent on my finishing that email series…..so I neeeed to do it! Can you feel the pressure there? I can’t produce anything kick-ass under those conditions!

Can you?

I invite you to notice when you are doing something in your biz because you think you need to do it, rather than wanting to do it. Which energy feels more expansive to you?

From a law of attraction perspective- which energy do you think is going to get you into your freaking fabulous empire faster? The expansive energy of -I want to do this- wins every time.

I’d love to hear what you’ll be doing more of in 2025!  Go ahead and share away in the comments below.

A bit of morning basking

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Yesterday was one of those amazing days when I’m really able to feel how Kick-Ass my life is.

I had to go get my car serviced and it required me to venture out onto the rush hour traffic at 7:30 AM , which is something that I rarely do. Traffic was backed up everywhere I went, with people blocking intersections and cutting each other off. (I DO live in Boston, and we’re not known for being nice drivers). It made me think how much it would suck to have to do this every day!

I big wave of appreciation swept over me and I could feel an amazing sense of joy swelling inside of me. I have successfully created my life to honor my ‘Yes’. I don’t have to do anything that I don’t want to do. My life is perfectly designed to suit me. Sometimes I have no idea how I am going to achieve something, or where the money is going to show up from, but it always works out. Every time I get exactly what I need to expand further in to who I really am.

Boy does that feel good!!!

I basked in those good feelings all the way to the Mazda dealership.

You know what?

I can teach YOU how to design your life to be Kick-Ass too.

What Death Has Taught Me

Posted by: | Comments (14)

In this moment I am sitting by my Nana’s bedside watching her labored breath. Her eyes are open but I do not think that she is seeing anything anymore.  Nana is very close to the end.  I think that she is at peace with it. I do not feel any struggle coming from her.

Nana would be turning 96 this July 3rd. She has had a long life surrounded by people that she loves and that love her.

This past year she has often spoken to me of how she has outlived her siblings, peers, and most of her friends. She even outlasted one of her two children. (My Mom died in 1993) She said that she gets a bit lonely when she thinks of it too much, so she chooses to focus on what she has left; her son and daughter-in-law, 5 grandchildren, and two great granddaughters. That feels good to her.

Once the Drs. told us that she had cancer all through her stomach and esophagus and it would be over quickly, the family started pouring in to be with her and say our goodbyes. For 12 days she’s had visitors and phone calls from extended family and old friends, all sharing a moment, looking at pictures and surrounding her with love.

It’s been such a beautiful celebration of her life.

It makes me realize that in my vision for my kick-ass life, I want to include time to say good bye and celebrate my life when it is time for me to die. I want a peaceful release after saying goodbye to the people I love.

I never really thought about it in that much detail before.

I have thought about how I do not want to go.

I do not want to suffer through a long drawn out dance with cancer like my Mom, and denying that I was going to die when the end came.

I can’t really blame her for resisting it with all her might; she was only 55. This is what she told me in our last coherent conversation:

“This is the time when I am supposed to be enjoying my life, not dying. I did everything I was supposed to do and now it’s my time to have fun. Leah, you need to enjoy your life now. Don’t put it off until the future. “

I carry that advice with me every day.

When my Dad passed it was rather sudden, and most of the family was in a place of surprise and denial around what was happening. I feel extremely lucky that I was able to meet him where he was and discuss what he wanted & what he was afraid of. It was extremely powerful for me, and I would like to believe that it made it easier for him to release life and move on to whatever was waiting for him.

The experience taught me the great gift of being present with what is, no matter how hard it is to face.

The vigil for Nana continues. It is time for me to return home, but I leave her surrounded by love and peaceful.
