Reflections on the World Domination Summit
Posted by: | CommentsThe three words that best describe my experience at the World Domination Summit are: Connection, Inspiration, and Fun.
Connection
Chris Guillebeau and his team put on an amazing event. Five hundred unique and awake individuals- all committed to living out their dreams- gathered for the weekend at the Portland Art Museum to listen to the inspiring speakers and meet other non-conforming souls. It was one giant Love fest from the very beginning. Everyone there was someone you wanted to meet. There were open hearts and interesting stories everywhere you turned.
Inspiration
I was constantly inspired by the speakers!
Follow your Heart was a major theme.
Over and over again we were told to follow our dreams, live from a place of excitement & inspiration, and to be fully present to how we want to feel in our lives.
Each speaker’s message echoed a different aspect of the work that I do with clients and it resonated deeply within me.
Here are some of the pieces that I took away…..
Leo Babauta of Zen Habits- change your habits, stop setting goals, free up your energy by simplifying, and each day only do the things you’re excited about.
Danielle Laporte of White Hot Truth- focus on how you want to FEEL in your life. Value your time and make a list of all the things you’re going to stop doing. Make the choice to be in it- whatever it is- be doing it by choice. Embrace your dreams and walk into them. The Universe wants you to win.
Jen Lemen and Andrea Scher of Mondo Beyondo- Embrace your wild and crazy dreams. Live big and juicy! Breath all the juicy goodness into your soul and let the magic of the Universe work.
Neil Pasricha of 1000 Awesome Things- Enjoy life to the fullest by focusing on all the small awesome things that happen every day.
Karen Walrond of Chookooloonks & The Beauty of Being Different- The things that make you different are your super powers! Everyone has something unique to offer the world. The world needs what you have to offer!
Fun
This event was designed to be fun! It doesn’t hurt that Portland is a beautiful city and it’s really easy to get around in. There were official events like the kick-off party, group sessions, long lunches, group tours, and the closing party, and then there were un-official meet-ups happening all weekend long. It was non-stop action! I went on a few different grand adventures and explored some cool neighborhoods. I really liked the Hawthorn Street area. I went on a Sweet tour and sampled some yummy chocolates and pastries with a group of fun people and we got caught in a never ending parade on the way back to our rooms. I’m so appreciative of all the fun playmates that I found.
I’ve already signed up for next year’s WDS. If you want to come too, make sure you put your name on the list for tickets now so you don’t miss out. It would be awesome to see you there!
