Episode 16: Decorating Your Temple: Sacred Body Modification

10/27/09

Abraham Street is back!
There is beauty and power in intentionally changing the way one is perceived by others. Whether it's putting on a ball gown and makeup, drawing a symbol on your left thigh every morning, piercing your lips to remind yourself to speak only truth, or surgically altering your appearance to be more in line with your gender identity, there are more ways to practice the art of body modification than getting a tattoo - although those can be powerful as well.

Abraham is known for creating and priesting body spirituality rituals and engaging in personal transformation through various forms of changing perceptions of the self. He will share his professional experiences with various forms of temporary, long term, and permanent sacred body modifications. A great discussion for people who are considering some form of modification, people who have modified their body in some way, or those who are interested in the practice.

Bio

For more than a decade, Abraham has been an educator and facilitator of everything from spirituality to sacred sexuality to body mod to kink—sometimes merging all these together. With interests including BDSM, Tantra, energy work, polyamory, D/s and M/s relationships, and rigging, Abraham offers his unique and sacred/profane view on subjects ranging from body play to energy play and beyond. He has worked as a professional tattoo artist and body piercer since 1996. As co-president of Sacred Mark Sanctuary, he works to help people connect their bodies and spirits through ritual, ordeal, and physical awareness. You can reach him here: [email protected]

Abraham is a founding creator of Fires of
Venus, a sacred fire circle event dedicated to Love and sacred sexuality.

Episode 17: The Freak Factor: Discovering Uniqueness by Flaunting Weakness

11/10/09

What's your problem? Seriously.  What do you wish you could change about yourself? What is the complaint that you hear the most from those closest to you — your friends, co-workers, and family members? Are you too loud or too quiet, too hyperactive or too sedentary, too organized or too messy? You get the idea.

Most people think that they should find and fix their weaknesses. Unfortunately, this just leads to frustration and failure. Research shows that most of us never make much progress trying to eliminate our worst traits. In fact, your weaknesses are actually the best clue to your strengths. The Freak Factor shows you how to find your path to career success and improved performance by starting with your weaknesses – and embracing them rather than trying to deny them.
